Bulk Buying Auto Filters: A Practical Checklist for Importers
What to confirm before placing a container order for oil, air and cabin filters, from the vehicle list through to inspection.
Filters look simple to buy in volume, and that is exactly where orders go wrong. A short checklist before you commit will save you a container of parts that will not fit.
Start From the Vehicle List, Not the Filter List
Build the order from the vehicles your buyers actually service, then work out which filter each one needs. Starting from a supplier's catalogue invites you to stock parts nobody asks for.
Confirm Media and Construction
Check the pleat count, media area and gasket on the sealing face. A filter with fewer pleats can still fit the housing while filtering less, and an ill-fitting gasket lets unfiltered air past the element. Ask for the OEM number and a photo of the sealing face.
Settle Packaging and Private Label Early
If the filters will carry your own brand, confirm box artwork, part number printing and carton quantities before production. Changing packaging after the run is expensive. Plan Container Loading
Filters are bulky relative to their value, so loading efficiency drives your landed cost. Ask how mixed cartons will be stacked and whether spare parts and hardware can fill the gaps.
Inspect Before Shipment
Check a sample from each production batch for pleat damage, gasket condition and correct part numbers on the box. Do this at the factory, not after the container arrives.
