Private Label Brake Pads: Preparing for Your First Branded Run
Selling pads under your own brand is mostly a packaging exercise. The part numbers, brand entitlement, artwork and approval placement worth settling before a first branded run.

Once you have decided to sell brake pads under your own brand rather than someone else's, the run itself is straightforward. What decides whether it goes smoothly is how much you settle beforehand. This is the set of decisions worth making before a private label order goes into production.
Private Label Is a Packaging Decision as Much as a Product Decision
The pads are the same pads. What changes is the box, the part number printed on it, and the brand on the label. That means most of the preparation is not technical: it is deciding exactly what appears on the packaging, and making sure you are entitled to put it there.
What to Have Ready Before You Order
The Part Numbers
Decide how your own reference numbers will relate to the OEM numbers. The OEM number is the fitment anchor and has to be captured for every item; your own catalogue number sits on top of it for your stock system. Settle the numbering scheme before the run, because the box print depends on it.
Your Entitlement to the Brand
A supplier can print the name you send, but cannot verify that you are entitled to use it. Confirm for yourself that the brand name and any artwork, logo or font you supply are yours to use. This is the one item that sits entirely on your side of the order.
Artwork and Packaging Specification
Prepare the artwork at the size and resolution the printer needs, and specify the details that are easy to leave open: box dimensions, printing method, carton quantity, and where on the box the part number sits. These are the choices that are expensive to revisit once a run has been printed and packed.
Where the Approval Marking Goes
If the pads carry an approval such as ECE R90, check that your branding does not obscure any marking the product is required to carry. Placement matters here. Settle it while the artwork is still open rather than after proofing.
The Volume You Actually Want
State the quantity for the first run honestly, including whether it is a trial to test the market or a full production quantity. Minimum order is 50-100 pcs, so a first branded run does not have to be large. Knowing your real target volume lets the supplier plan the run around it.
Why These Decisions Are Cheap Now and Costly Later
Before production, changing a carton quantity or moving a part number costs nothing more than an email. After production, the same change means reprinted boxes or repacked stock. This is the whole reason to work through the list before the order is placed rather than alongside it.
Approving the First Branded Run
Ask to approve a sample and the packaging before the full quantity is produced. Check that the part number on the box matches the pads inside, that the branding reads correctly, and that the finish is what you expected. A first branded run is the moment to catch a packaging error, not after it has shipped.
Starting Your First Branded Run
We manufacture brake pads in our own factory, in ceramic and semi-metallic material, with a minimum order of 50-100 pcs and full private label production including custom packaging. Send us your OEM part numbers, your target market and the branding you want on the box, and we will confirm fitment and come back with a quotation.
